impossible to resist 

My sister’s pies are so irresistible that I can never have just one slice.

I couldn’t help but scowl when I saw my brother eat the pizza I was saving. 

to cause someone to feel admiration or interest

I knew that gettings A’s on  my last two exams would impress my tutor. 

Victor: You’re making that face you saw the male models make in GQ magazine again.

Michael: I think it works!

Michael: Belinda Reyes walked by a while ago, and she looked right at me!

Michael: Maybe she likes my new shirt. I picked grapes in the hot sun all summer to buy this.

Michael: What language are you taking?

Victor: French.

Michael: I’m taking Spanish. I ain’t so good at it, even if I am Mexican.

Michael: See you at lunch.

Victor (thinking): I can’t believe Michael thinks this face makes him look irresistible?!

Victor (thinking): Maybe it does work?

Victor (thinking): But will it work on Teresa?

Victor (thinking): Finally! My first class with Teresa.

Mr. Lucas: What is a noun?

Students (together): A person, place, or thing!

Mr. Lucas: Yes! Now, Victor Rodriguez . . . give me an example of a person.

Victor: Um . . . Teresa?

Students (together): Hee! Hee! Hee! Hee!

Victor (thinking): Saved by the lunch bell!

Teresa: Hi, Victor!

Victor: Yeah, that's me!

Victor (thinking): Gah! Why didn't I just say "Hi"?

Victor (thinking): Or "How was your summer?"

Victor (thinking): Maybe I can find Teresa and talk to her . . .

Michael: See what I mean, Vic?

Michael: Girls love it when you scowl.

Victor: Yeah, I guess so.

Victor (thinking): There she is!

Victor (thinking): I'll talk to her in our next class . . . French!

Mr. Bueller: Bonjour!

Students (together): Bonjour!

Mr. Bueller: Does anyone know any French?

Victor (thinking): Now’s my chance to impress Teresa!

Mr. Bueller: Très bien. Parlez-vous français?

Victor: Uh . . . La me vav me con le grandma.

Mr. Bueller: Eh? Speak up.

Victor: Frenchie oh wewe gee in September.

Mr. Bueller: Le bateau est sur l’eau . . .

Victor (thinking): Mr. Bueller can tell I don’t know French.

Teresa: I didn’t know you can speak French. 

Victor: Uh . . .

Teresa: That was really good!

Victor (thinking): Please don’t say anything, Mr. Bueller. Please!

Mr. Bueller (thinking): Heh-heh . . . I remember when I was a young man trying to impress a girl.

Victor: Yeah, I picked up a few things from movies and books and stuff.

Teresa: Will you help me with my French?

Victor: Sure, anytime. 

Teresa: I won’t be bothering you?

Victor: Oh, no. I like being bothered.

Teresa: Bonjour!

Victor (thinking): I think I’m going to like seventh grade.

Victor (thinking): Now I’d better check out some books!
