How to Use Action’s Family Letters

Building student engagement beyond the classroom

Family engagement is vital to the growth of students, especially the striving readers of Action. In fact, research shows that students whose parents are more involved in their education are more likely to have higher grades and test scores, graduate, and have better behavior and relationships. That’s why we’ve created our Family Letters—a simple tool to help your students continue building comprehension and reading skills at home.

In each Family Letter, parents will find highlighted articles from each issue to read with their children, along with engaging questions and fun activities to guide them. Our letters are offered in both English and Spanish.

Ready to make Family Letters a part of your students’ learning? Here’s how to get started:

Step 1: Send the introductory letter (choose from our English and Spanish versions) home with your students to show their family. It includes instructions on how to log in to Action Digital to access our articles and other online resources.

Step 2: When each new issue of Action comes out, visit the issue page to find the corresponding Family Letter, located at the top.

Step 3: Watch your students grow with help from their parents! It may not seem important, but family engagement is crucial to building stronger readers. We highly encourage you to have your students and their parents read together with the help of our Family Letters.
