12) What is the Student View?
In the Student View, students see and can interact with a complete digital issue of the magazine, but do not see or have access to teacher-specific information, such as the Teacher's Edition, answer keys, or skills sheets.
There are two ways to access the Student View: by logging in as a student using a student password, or by clicking on the yellow "Go to Student View" button in the upper right of your magazine's home page. If you access the Student View from the yellow button, you can return to the Teacher View by clicking on the red "Back to Teacher View" button on the upper left.
13) Where do I find my student password?
We have provided a default student password that will always take students to the current issue of Action. You may also create student passwords for past issues at any time.

18) What version of Flash should I download for optimal performance?
You need Flash 10 or higher installed on your computer to play video on the Web site and use the interactive issues.
We recommend downloading the latest version of Flash for optimal performance. You will find a downloadable version of Flash at the following link:
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
19) What if I have trouble playing videos?
The video performance will vary depending on the user’s Internet connection and the number of teachers accessing a video simultaneously.
If you are able to access the Action Web site prior to beginning your lesson, you can start to load the video onto your computer in advance. Simply click the video button and then press pause. The pause button is on the bottom left of the video player toolbar. The pause button toggles between pause and play. When the video player is in the paused mode, the video will continue to load. When you are ready to begin your lesson, simply press play to begin the video.
You can load the video a few minutes prior to a lesson or hours in advance.
20) How do I use the leveled feature story that comes with each issue?
Each issue comes with one feature story leveled significantly lower and higher than the story appeared in the printed issue your students received. All three versions are available from the online issue of your magazine.
When an article is available at multiple reading levels, the “Lexile” button in the toolbar will turn bright blue. Clicking “Lexile” reveals three different reading levels: Lower, Middle, and Higher. Middle is the default reading level printed in the magazine.
Click one of the three buttons to change reading levels. To hide which version is being used, click “Lexile” again.
21) How do I access a video or game for a prior issue of Action?
All of the videos and games, as well as the complete digital issues of Action are available within the Issue Archive. Simply click the blue “Issue Archive” button on the left side of the home page.
Inside the Issue Archive, you will see a thumbnail image of each issue’s cover and have the ability to search for an issue by keyword and issue date. When you click on the thumbnail image, the digital issue uploads into the home page. Videos, games, teacher resources, and other online materials for that issue will be accessible from this page.
You can also search for a specific video under the blue “Search Action” button. Enter a keyword; under “Filter by Media Type” check “Video / Slide Show” or “Game”; then click “See Results”.
22) What do I do if the issue is taking a very long time to load?
The loading time will vary depending on a user’s Internet connection and the number of teachers accessing the same issue simultaneously.
If your computer does not load all the pages of an issue, select the “Show All Pages” icon in the toolbar and select any page of the digital issue. This icon is to the left of the “Home” icon. When you select a specific page, it will load that page more quickly and continue to load the rest of the digital issue.
23) What do I do if my students are trying to access the video at once and the video doesn’t play well?
Many school networks do not have enough bandwidth for all students to play the same video simultaneously. We recommend that the teacher begin a lesson with Action by playing the video on a whiteboard, projector, or large monitor. The videos are designed to build interest in the feature article of the issue and motivate students to read their issue of Action. After watching a video together, students can explore the digital issue and interactive activities on their own.
24) Why can’t I print my digital issue of Action?
Because the Action digital resources are meant to be used with an interactive whiteboard for whole-class participation or on individual computers, we don’t allow users to print Action pages.
However, you can print our useful skills sheets, the entire Teacher’s Edition, and other pdf files on the Teaching Resources Web page.

The Answer Key can be found on the Teaching Resources page. If a teacher is looking for a past issue, they will find them in the Issue Archive.

The tool for the two-page spread displayed. Click the Text Highlighter once to de-activate it and go to another page. If you click the Text Highlighter two times, it will clear the highlighting on the page.

30) Can I save my Digital Sticky Notes? Where can I find them?
You have the ability to save Digital Sticky Notes within your digital issues of Action.
